Ivinghoe Library Changes

Avril Davies, the County Councillor for Ivinghoe Division has highlighted some potential changes to the library services in Ivinghoe.

The current consultation, necessitated by budget cuts, talks in general terms about community partnership libraries, but there are unpublished specific proposals for Ivinghoe which would retain core services provided by Bucks County Council, but would need volunteers as well.

The proposal is to explore setting up a local management committee to run the library, grant funding the existing service, including the librarian, but with trained volunteers providing extended opening hours, and other services the management committee might consider.

There will be a meeting at Ivinghoe Town Hall, above the Library, on Thursday December 16th at 7pm, to find out how Ivinghoe Library might become a Community Library in partnership with Bucks County Council.

Avril says "This is not a done deal, but keeping things as they are will not be an option either, so please come along, find out more, influence what might happen, and support the library".
