Speed calming is an ongoing issue for Cheddington and various methods have been researched by the Parish Council. In conjunction with the current methods:- 'slow down' signs, wheelie bin stickers and the 'speed watch' equipment used to record data, Cheddington Parish Council have discussed funding a double chicane (one chicane either side of the recreation ground entrance).

In order to move forward with this speed calming initiative the Parish Council need to obtain a positive response from residents.  To take part in the survey please download the PDF file on the right.

Survey Results - Traffic Calming.

The survey is now closed.  The Council would like to thank those that returned a completed traffic calming survey in February. 80 responses in total were received, 30 were in favour of the proposed plans and 47 were against (3 supported the idea of traffic calming but were not certain that this was the appropriate scheme).
The Council were surprised that so few people responded to an issue believed to be of real concern amongst villagers. The Parish Council was prepared to fund measures to help with this problem but with the majority of respondents rejecting the proposed plans, the Council has decided to put the scheme on hold. From the feedback received Council are aware that there is some information that needs to be clarified. Speed bumps, speed cameras and roundabouts have been prohibited by Buckinghamshire County Council. The survey conducted by the Parish Council in 2008 requested feedback on a double chicane located near to The Swan, again, this was rejected by residents. From the results of the survey the Parish Council must conclude that residents are against the proposed double chicane scheme at the recreation ground and that speed calming is not as prominent an issue amongst the majority as the Council had believed.
